- Paw pads only — this is not a body clipper, and the small head will pull on a thick coat
- Let your dog hear the motor running near them for a few sessions before it touches a paw
- Trim level with the pad, never between the toes with the blade angled in
- Stop if your dog pulls the paw away twice; a trimmed paw is not worth a dog that fears their feet being handled
