How to choose

Gear for a dog or cat who is slowing down. Most of what helps is unglamorous: getting up off the floor, getting into the car, eating without bending a stiff neck, and sleeping somewhere warm and easy to climb out of.

Start with what is actually hard. If the back legs are weak but the front is steady, a rear-leg lift sling is the tool. If your pet is unsteady at the front, or over about 30 kg, use a support belt at each end. Read rear sling vs support belt if you are unsure, and see the full mobility support range.

Then the everyday things. A low-sided bed they can step into rather than climb. A non-slip mat where they eat. Shorter, more frequent walks rather than one long one.

One honest note: support gear helps you assist your pet, and it is not a treatment. If the weakness is new, sudden, or getting worse, see your vet before buying anything — including from us.
