How to choose
Bowls, fountains and slow feeders for cats. The most common cat feeding problem is not food, it is water: many cats barely drink from a still bowl.
Water. Moving water gets a lot of cats drinking more. A circulating fountain is the usual fix — never let the pump run dry, rinse it and change the filter on schedule, and keep a normal bowl available too, for power cuts and for cats that never take to it. Some cats ignore a fountain entirely; give it a week before deciding.
Bowls. Shallow and wide keeps whiskers clear of the sides, which fussy cats notice. Anti-tip bases help with cats that push.
Eating too fast. Maze bowls and lick mats slow it down; spread wet food thin on a mat and count it as part of the day's food rather than extra.
Placement matters more than the product: keep food, water and the litter tray apart. Crowding them into one corner is a common reason a cat stops using one of them.
