What Bluetooth can and cannot do
- Range is roughly 10–30 metres in the open, and less through walls. If your pet is beyond that, the tag shows you where it was last seen, not where it is
- This is not a GPS tracker. GPS units report a live position from anywhere and need a subscription; Bluetooth tags do not, which is why they cost a fraction as much
- A microchip is the backup neither can replace. It cannot fall off, needs no battery, and is what a vet or shelter scans. Do both
- An engraved ID tag with a current phone number is still the fastest route home. Whoever finds your pet reads it in a second
- The listing does not state battery type or life — check before relying on it
Keeping it on the collar
