Read this before using it on a cat
- Minutes, not the length of a bath. A muzzle restricts the mouth, and cats also lose some of their ability to regulate temperature when they cannot open it. This is for a brief, hands-on task — a nail trim, a wound check — not a whole grooming session
- Never leave a muzzled cat alone, not even for a moment. A cat that panics in a muzzle can injure itself
- Stop immediately if your cat freezes rigid, breathes through an open mouth, drools heavily or struggles. Open-mouth breathing in a cat is an emergency sign at the best of times
- A cat that needs restraining to be handled usually needs a different approach, not a muzzle. Ask your vet about a towel wrap, a calmer handling routine, or medication for the visit. Muzzling a frightened cat tends to make the next handling worse
- Not for stopping licking after surgery — that is a recovery cone, and your vet decides which one

Measure your pet lying down, nose to tail base, and add 15–20% for beds; for collars and harnesses measure the neck and the widest part of the chest. Between two sizes? Take the larger one.
